2020
ARCHIVE -December 2020:

UPDATE – Plans are in place to manage the Carols round the Green as sensibly as possible on Friday 18th December at 7.30 pm
- We are aiming to get household / family groups arranged in a horseshoe with 2 metres between each group – helpers with 2 metre long measures will be in attendance!
- Carol sheets will be distributed, as will mulled wine, by more assistants, with the intention that the groups stay in place once stationed.
- Face coverings are at personal discretion.
Wrap up warm, bring a torch and maybe a brolly!

A message about our Christmas Services 2020
We’d love you to join us for our Christmas services. This year we have a mixture of on-line and in-church services. Streamed services are on YouTube at www.sheet.church/youtubeThey will be premiered at the advertised time and remain on YouTube for two weeks. Services in church have limited numbers so it’s essential to book if you wish to attend one. For full details of everything the Church has planned for this Christmas, including a streamed Carol Service at 10 am on Sunday 20th, see the full programme at Sheet Church Christmas 2020
Good to hear that the current Covid-19 restrictions allow for carol singing outside, so the annual Carols Round the Green will take place. This event is planned for Friday 18th December starting at 7.30pm, on the Green. Please check back here for any updates nearer the time.
The Sheet WI have produced this wonderful array of 72 festive fabric masks and 50 Christmas decorations to go into the Mayor’s Christmas hampers. These were delivered to the Salvation Army HQ in Petersfield last month.
An idea of a young woman (Kathryn Stubbs), in Scotland, for everyone to go outside on Christmas Eve at 6pm and ring a bell for 2 minutes to spread Christmas spirit and to help Santa fly his sleigh, has spread around the world. So if you’d like to join in, we’ll see you outside with your bell!

ARCHIVE -November 2020: Act of Remembrance
Richard Saunders, the vicar of St Mary Magdalen Sheet, has asked us to draw your attention to arrangements for the Remembrance Day service on 8th November 2020. Because of Covid-19 restrictions the church are unable to hold the usual Act of Remembrance and Sunday Service this year. They can hold a small service in the church garden with a limited number of people and will livestream this on the church website www.sheet.church at 10:50am. The church has invited four Scouts and three other wreath layers to take part in this. To keep us all keep safe and to stay within government guidelines they ask everyone else to watch online.

Ruth Hiscoke has contacted us via the village website – if you have any news please contact her direct on the email address provided.
“My name is Ruth Hiscoke, and my ancestors lived in Sheet. The surname of my family is Ward/Powell. Some members of the Ward family owned the Half Moon Inn at Sheet. I believe his first name was William and his wife was Lucy nee Winter. Her parents lived there as well. Hope anyone can help with my quest, in finding more history about them.
