“DJ Ahmet” is a 2025 drama film, directed and written by Georgi M. Unkovski, which follows the life of Ahmet, a 15-year-old boy from a remote Yurok village in rural North Macedonia. Ahmet has a lot on his plate after the loss of his mother, including herding sheep and caring for his kid brother. Weighed down by his father’s rules, he’s also bound by his conservative wider community. FUN & GAMES ON THE VILLAGE GREEN
After a spell of cold, wet and windy weather, the sun shone for us at The Sheet Association’s summer event, on Saturday 13th June. Especially enjoyed by many children Pinning the Tail on the Donkey, Splatting the Rat, playing Hoola Hoop, decorating cupcakes, and throwing wet sponges at their friends and family in the Stocks! Adults were of course allowed to join in, many guessing the number of sweets in the jar and guessing the weight of the Yokel, identifying film stars and visiting the plant stall, after a BBQ lunch and before relaxing with tea and cake. Thanks to everyone who came and made it a success, and to everyone who helped set up on Friday and Saturday and who manned the stalls – and all the clearing away! And thanks to everyone who baked a cake. We are of course always grateful for the generous prizes donated for the Raffle.
“The Italian Job” is a 1969 British comedy caper film written by Troy Kennedy Martin, directed by Peter Collinson and starring Michael Caine. The film’s plot centres on Cockney criminal Charlie Croker, recently released from prison, who forms a gang for the job of stealing a cache of gold bullion being transported through the city of Turin, Italy, in an armoured security truck. The soundtrack was composed by Quincy Jones, featuring the songs “On Days Like These”, sung by Matt Monro over the opening credits, and “Getta Bloomin’ Move On” during the climactic car chase, which featured Caine among its singers. Several elements became symbolic cult features, including a rare never-resolved cliffhanger ending and Caine’s famous line about only blowing the doors off.
