Film Club Presents ‘My Favourite Cake’ – Thursday 19th February.

My Favourite Cake is the third film by the Iranian writing-directing duo Maryam Moqadam and Behtash Sanaeeha and tells the story of a woman who decides to live out her desires in a country where women’s rights are heavily restricted. Mahin (70) lives alone in Tehran since her husband’s death and her daughter’s departure for Europe, until an afternoon tea with friends leads her to break her solitary routine and revitalize her love life. The film had its world premiere in 2024 at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival where the directors were prohibited from attending by the Iranian Government.
