The Descendants is a poignant comedy-drama starring George Clooney as Matt King, a Hawaiian lawyer and land baron.  The story follows Matt as he navigates a family crisis: his wife is in a coma following a boating accident, leaving him to reconnect with his two daughters while discovering a painful secret about his marriage. Simultaneously, he faces immense pressure to sell a massive tract of ancestral land owned by his family. The film was a major critical success, winning the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and earning Clooney a Golden Globe for his lead performance.
