The 2024/25 season concludes with Best in Show, a 2000 American comedy film co-written by Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy. The film follows five entrants in a prestigious dog show as they travel to and compete at the show. At the prestigious Mayflower Dog Show, a “documentary film crew” captures the excitement and tension displayed by the eccentric participants in this outrageously hilarious satire. This biting send-up exposes the wondrously diverse dog owners who travel from all over America to showcase their four-legged contenders.

Lunana : A Yak in the Classroom is a 2019 Bhutanese drama film directed by Pawo Choyning Dorji in his feature directorial debut. A young teacher, Ugyen, dreams of moving to Australia, where he wants to make a living playing his guitar and singing. Instead, he finds himself posted to the remote village of Lunana, high up in the Himalayan glaciers. Leaving behind his modern life in Bhutan’s capital, he is initially perplexed by the customs of the isolated yak herding community he is sent to join, and disheartened by their lack of basic amenities such as electricity, paper or even a blackboard. Freedom Writers is a 2007 American biographical drama film written and directed by Richard LaGravenese, starring Hilary Swank, Scott Glenn, Imelda Staunton, Patrick Dempsey and Mario.A dedicated teacher, played by Hilary Swank, in a racially divided Los Angeles school has a class of at-risk teenagers deemed incapable of learning. Instead of giving up, she inspires her students to take an interest in their education and planning their future. The season continues on the 20th March with “Senna”, a 2010 BAFTA winning documentary film about the supremely-talented Brazilian F1 driver Ayrton Senna, who died tragically at the age of 34 after winning three world championships.The charismatic, risk-taking Brazilian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna may be an obvious subject for a documentary, but Asif Kapadia’s film is probably the definitive take on his life – and death. ‘Past Lives’ is a 2023 romantic drama film, written and directed by Celine Song in her directorial debut. The film follows two childhood friends, Nora and Hae Sung, over the course of 24 years after they are wrest apart after Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea to the US. “Past Lives” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in early 2023, and was released in the US later that year. The Taste of Things is a 2023 French historical romantic drama film written and directed by Trần Anh Hùng starring Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel. Set in 1889, it depicts a romance between Eugenie, an esteemed cook, and Dodin, the fine gourmet chef she has been working for for over the last 20 years. Growing fonder of one another, their bond turns into a romance and gives rise to delicious dishes that impress even the world’s most illustrious chefs. The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a 1994 Australian road comedy film written and directed by Stephan Elliott. The plot follows two drag queens, played by Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce, and a transgender woman played by Terence Stamp, as they journey across the Australian Outback from Sydney to Alice Springs in a tour bus that they have named “Priscilla”, along the way encountering various groups and individuals. Lincoln is a 2012 American historical drama film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as US President Abraham Lincoln. The film focuses on Lincoln’s efforts in January 1865 to abolish slavery by having the 13th Amendment to the US constitution passed in the House of Representatives.
