Local Plan Impact on Sheet

  • At a meeting on the 15th June, the South Downs National Park planning committee received a revised Local Plan. This proposes  30-32 residential dwellings to be built on land behind  Pulens Lane. This is a radical increase in the numbers of new homes that had previously been proposed for Sheet. The Park Authority  will hold a 6/8 week public consultation on the proposal in the Autumn, and parish residents can make their comments known when the mechanics of doing so are revealed. We will update the website with any further information we receive. (See also the Parish Council website).  Details of the proposal are accessible via the SDNP website, on pages 320-323 of Appendix 1 to Agenda item 7 of the planning committee meeting on 15th June.  Scroll down the pdf link to page 320.   https://www.southdowns.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/PC_2017June15_Agenda-Item-7-Appendix-1.pdf

The meeting was webcasted and is available to watch for a year on the SDNPA webcasting portal:  https://southdowns.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/290929

The Local Plan will then be submitted to government in February 2018 for examination, unless there are any major matters arising that go to the heart of soundness.  “Adoption” of the Local Plan will occur in the year of 2018, estimated to be in July.
