FUN & GAMES ON THE VILLAGE GREEN
After a spell of cold, wet and windy weather, the sun shone for us at The Sheet Association’s summer event, on Saturday 13th June. Especially enjoyed by many children Pinning the Tail on the Donkey, Splatting the Rat, playing Hoola Hoop, decorating cupcakes, and throwing wet sponges at their friends and family in the Stocks! Adults were of course allowed to join in, many guessing the number of sweets in the jar and guessing the weight of the Yokel, identifying film stars and visiting the plant stall, after a BBQ lunch and before relaxing with tea and cake. Thanks to everyone who came and made it a success, and to everyone who helped set up on Friday and Saturday and who manned the stalls – and all the clearing away! And thanks to everyone who baked a cake. We are of course always grateful for the generous prizes donated for the Raffle.

Now that the evenings are drawing in, is it almost time for the sofa and a book?! In memory of our past Parish Council Chairman, Ron Dark, who loved a good book, we now have a bookshelf in the small meeting room of the Village Hall which can be accessed any time the Village Hall doors are open and there’s no-one using the room. Please feel free to take a book, leave one in exchange if you want to, but due to the limited space, please don’t leave a pile of books!

TEA & CAKES ON THE VILLAGE GREEN AND BRING & BUY SALE
Our event for charity, was held on Sunday afternoon 29th June. A big thank you to all who supported this event and made it a success. It really was a joint effort with the Sheet Association and residents – we had so many contributions from you; garden produce, plants and flowers and homemade jams etc. And of course thank you to anyone who made a cake and thanks to all for coming and supporting us on the day and buying Raffle tickets. We had some generous prizes donated from local businesses and individuals. And if you helped setting up on Sunday morning, lifting and shifting gazebos and marquee to give everyone shade in the heat of the day, and all those tables and chairs – that was much appreciated too!
And thanks to those who entered the photography competition, all of which made a great display alongside the themed floral original art. Your generosity produced £1131 – Tea & Cakes £366 / Produce stall £260 / Tony Clear’s flowers £186 / Raffle £319. The proceeds were split 75% / 25% to The Rosemary Foundation and Cancer Research respectively. A pleasing result.
TONY CLEAR
We don’t normally single people out for praise on this website as so many people do so much and most of our events are a team effort. However, on this occasion we felt we wanted to thank Sheet resident Tony Clear for his involvement in the Tea and Cakes on the Green event on 29th June, and specifically for his contribution to the Bring & Buy Stalls. Many of you will know of the huge amount of work he puts into his field of cut flowers which he sells at the Harrow pub, proceeds from which go to the Rosemary Foundation. His admirable efforts over the years have raised many thousands of pounds for this organisation. On this occasion Tony and his partner Clare were up early on Sunday morning and gathered 30 bunches of flowers while most of us were likely still in bed! Many thanks Tony, you raised £186.

Hello everyone, Well a rather exciting Spring term for us here at Sheet with an Ofsted visit! You can find the details here. We are rightly very proud of our report. The report praises the school’s focus on personal development and behaviour and attitudes and has graded these two areas as ‘outstanding’, noting the staff’s dedication to ensuring the best for each and every child! We are thrilled to have received such positive feedback from Ofsted and are pleased that the aspects we value were noticed and noted in our report. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, the support of our parents and governors, and the resilience and enthusiasm of our pupils. There have been visits to Windsor Castle for our Kingfisher Class (Year 1/2), The Living Rainforest for our Herons (Year 3/4) and to The Natural history Museum for Kestrels (Year 5/6). We have celebrated World Book Day, Pancake Day (you may have heard the cheers of support from the village on Shrove Tuesday), Engineering Day and Science week too! Alongside this our children have taken part in music day and art day at Bedales. It really is ‘all go’ at school these days! We’ll be back in July to share more stories and adventures. Until then, keep that Sheet spirit alive! Julie Robinson, Head
