THE SHEET OLYMPICS held on Saturday 22nd June was a great success with many medals won. Hugely enjoyed by so many children – and adults, with stories of children insisting on wearing their medals to bed that night! Many thanks to The Sheet Association committee members for all their very hard work perfecting the logistics of such a fun event. And to Sheet School children for their ‘Chariots of Fire’ Opening Ceremony performance and creative Olympic torches.

8 teams competed – Australia, France, Greece, India, Kenya, Ukraine, UK and USA. India won Gold, Ukraine won Silver and Kenya won Bronze. And some great prizes were won in the Raffle too. A tasty BBQ and WI tea & cakes provided delicious fuel for the athletes and spectators, together with refreshing drinks from The Half Moon pub’s bar. And our fluent ‘Franglais’ speaking MC guided us expertly through the afternoon!

Thanks to Lucy and Sloane Pringle for the photographs

Millennium Field Tree Planting Scheme

The Parish Council have asked us to remind you about the Millennium Field Tree Planting Scheme – Monday, 29th January and/or Tuesday, 30th January.  We would love it if parishioners could come along to help  plant the whips – please let us know in advance if you are able to make  it (clerk@sheetparishcouncil.gov.uk) and please bring your own spade!   It is intended to start with the avenue and hedge on the south border of the field – the location of each species of whips will be marked out.  On Monday 29th we have the Hampshire Monday Group booked (approx. 12-15 in number) who have plenty of experience planting and laying  hedgerows and on Tuesday we have a South Downs National Park Volunteer  group (approx. 10–12 in number) – however, we would love to see  residents as well.

The Parish Priority Statement Survey

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Community Meeting on Saturday, 25th November to discuss the survey responses – all the feedback and discussion was very welcome.  Sheet Parish Council approved the Parish Priority Statement response to SDNPA at their meeting on 12th December.  Notes from the meeting can be found here.
